I’ve been included in taxations for longer then I care to acknowledge, both on the personal side (all my working life-time!!) and from a legal viewpoint since passing the bar and following tax law. I’ve put up a lot of advice and righted a lot of wrongs, and I must say that what you’ve put up makes perfect sense. Please continue the good work – the more people know the better they’ll be equipped to deal with the tax man, and that’s what it’s all about.

Loved your well-written story. And thanks so much for sharing the lessons.

The beauty of learning from others is to *hopefully* not make the same mistake ;)

In the moment, we tweet within context–the context of THAT moment whether as an update or in conversation with others.

Yet when that context is taken away (i.e. read the SINGLE tweet), the meaning is lost.

So as Gina–the Twitter Goddess – so eloquent puts it: Never tweet when angry.

And I would add emoticons to the tweet, even a simple smile to add context. Because you never know when a tweet will stand alone…

Great info John and a reminder for all of us to think before we tweet–never Drink and Tweet and NEVER TWEET WHEN ANGRY! Lessons we’ve learned through the use of Email but now we are letting the world (yes THE WORLD)peek in–it makes for a great reality TV show, but not for good relationships. Social Media tools are SOCIAL and people like to talk and pass along helpful info but remember–once you’ve laid that “Google Track” you can’t take it back (even like your case- deleting it from your list of tweets doesn’t mean its ALL gone if I have already re-tweeted) PS- Twitter Goddess does have a nice ring to it

Interesting post Leaving aside the security aspects, sometimes people on social media like Twitter forget how much influence they wield (or how vast an audience they reach) because of the way the Internet works. We are all alone in our little cubicles (or on our couch at home :p) and so forget that there are potentially millions of people reading what we write. Good to be reminded of this fact every once in a while
